FAQ

How does a virtual book conference work?

There will be events like panel discussions, book readings, and speakers, all of which are completely voluntary on the author’s part. So we have set times for each type of activity. The platform we are using mimics an in person conference quite a bit so basically there’s a schedule and you click on the link to go into that room like you would for an in-person conference.

Do authors need to be available online for all hours that the conference is taking place? Do I have to be live all the time?

I really recommend doing book signings live. Beyond that everything is voluntary. You can be live and interact at your table whenever you want or obviously anywhere else in the conference. The platform we are using mimics an in person conference quite a bit so basically there’s a schedule and you click on the link to go into that room like you would for an in-person conference. We have tried to set an early set of book signings, book readings, panels, etc. and a second set a bit later that way anyone with a time crunch or timezone issues don’t feel pressured to be there all day. We will accommodate as much as we can for everyone based on their needs and where they are slotted. Everything else is at your discretion. If you want to just be at your booth live outside of your book signing time for people to just pop in whenever, that’s totally your prerogative. However, it isn’t expected or required. People can drop by if you aren’t at your booth and leave a chat or sign up for a giveaway or click a link for a free book or for your newsletter or whatever you make available on your booth page for them. Your page stays up and active whether you are there live or not.

How does a virtual book signing work?

For the book signings I’ve been suggesting doing a preorder for the purchase and then having a time signup for those that preorder for their book signing. Basically, you would be live on your conference page during your book signing and people will pop in and out during their spots so you can chat and sign their book. We’ve been suggesting the preorder method so that you can fit more people into your book signing time if you don’t have to worry about taking payment at that point. Basically, each author would have an individual signup with slots for readers that spans the length of the “book signings” author slot all meeting within one of the two book signing times scheduled for the day. Each author has their own “table” page so it’s separate from the others. So, say we were doing book signings from 4-5:30pm ET. The authors for that slot would have an hour and a half worth of reader slots based on those that preordered books. Your readers would show up for their slot during that hour and a half and they just pop in when it’s their slot time with you. Largely, how you run your book signing is up to you, ESPECIALLY if you have a better idea that would work for your readers. Outside of your book signing time slot you can still be live at your booth for people to come by and purchase books, chat, or signup for a giveaway. Whatever best suits you. You can do anything at your booth throughout the day either via the live function or via prerecorded video. If you have other ideas on how virtual book signings can work, share them in the comments for everyone.

I live outside of the US, can I still attend and will I need to be up at 3am to participate?

You can absolutely attend! We have duplicated the available activities in the afternoon that we will hold in the morning to accommodate those outside of the US in both situations. We made the decision to hold the conference from 11am-8pm ET, which hopefully hits everyone’s time zones not at the 4am. Obviously, those authors with timezone concerns we would help them get into the best activities for them.

Does it matter what subgenre of reverse harem I write in?

Nope! The Unleashed RHomance Conference is open to all subgenres and authors that write in the RH genre.

How much are author tickets?

Author tickets are $35.

What if I miss the author registration signup?

Late author signup is now open until June 1, 2021 ET. After this date we unfortunately have to cut off registration to prepare for the conference.
